Legion of Blue! My name is Nick Malizia, and I am the 15th President in Penn State Basketball Student Section history. The 2017-2018 season is my first as President after serving the past two years as Vice President. I’m a senior double majoring in Advertising and Political Science. My hometown is New Castle, PA, home to the 2014 PIAA AAAA Basketball State Champions, where I began my extensive student-section career.
This basketball program is climbing the mountain, and I want everyone to be along for the ride. My mission is to lead the student section both in the Bryce Jordan Center and as a club on campus. In my time as Vice-President, I helped rebrand the student section from Nittany Nation to Legion of Blue, and as President have helped launch the alumni component to the student section. I believe that by growing the student section community, we will enhance the experience at games and continue to create a hostile environment for opposing teams. Within the friendly confines of the Bryce Jordan Center, you will find me going crazy at the very center of the student section, leading chants, heckling the opponent, and having a very fun time.
If I had to pick a single moment that stands out to me, it has to be our trip to Madison Square Garden for the hockey-hoops double header during the 2015-2016 season. During the game, our band played “Rock-n-Roll Penn State” and the chants of “P-S-U” echoed through the World’s Most Famous Arena, giving chills to both myself and our entire exec board. Aside from basketball, you can find me at almost every sporting event on campus wearing a backwards hat and losing my mind. If anyone has any questions, comments, or concerns, please get in contact with me as I love to talk all things Penn State Basketball.
